United States Leads the Pack in Driving Fatalities

The International Transport Forum studied the change in roadway fatalities among 30 member countries from 2010 to 2016. At 13.5%, the United States experienced the largest increase in driving fatalities – while globally there was an improvement of -3.6% for the period measured.

The United States also experienced the largest increase in pedestrian (+39.2%) and cyclist fatalities (+34.8%.)

Authors attribute the increase to favorable economic conditions and distracted driving habits.

Companies who employ drivers with serious moving violations often score, on average, more than 20 points lower in loss ratio results than companies whose employees have clean driving records.
