Four Automakers have added Automatic Braking to 90% of New Vehicles

Since September of 2017, 10 out of 20 vehicle manufacturers say that over 50% of their new vehicles produced with emergency braking sensors and crash avoidance technology.

The top manufacturers with fully equipped crash avoidance vehicles are as follows:

  • 100% Tesla
  • 96% Mercedes-Benz
  • 93% Volvo
  • 90% Toyota/Lexus

90% of the new vehicles by these four manufacturers have proper updated crash avoidance technology.

The statistics serve as a reminder to the commitment automakers made to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2015. Manufacturers agreed to implement vehicle safety and crash avoidance technology in all new vehicles.

The IIHS estimated that crash avoidance technology and automatic braking systems would prevent 28,000 auto crashes by 2025.
