City of Havre de Grace Replaces Aging Fleet and Improves Cost Predictability

THE CHALLENGE

With aging vehicles and a tight budget, the City of Havre de Grace faced challenges with the management and maintenance of its fleet. The city was seeking advice on how to refresh the age of their fleet, lower maintenance expenses, and acquire more vehicles with less cash outlay.

THE SOLUTION

Enterprise Fleet Management helped the City of Havre de Grace finance vehicles through open-ended equity leases, incorporating the cost of after-market equipment. Plus, rather than selling their vehicles through auction for minimal value, they utilized Enterprise Fleet Management resale channels and maintenance programs to get the most out of their fleet program.

THE RESULTS

Since the partnership began in 2020, the city has reduced its fleet’s average age from 11 to 4.8 years*. Enterprise Fleet Management has helped them acquire 69 new vehicles, sell 60 customer owned vehicles, and return $190,031 in equity back to the city*. In addition, the partnership has increased cost predictability through leasing and lowered the city’s total cost of ownership.

Reducing the average life of our fleet vehicles from 11 years to 4.8 has improved vehicle dependability, reduced maintenance and upkeep, and given a big boost to employee morale.
