Palmer Electric was used to driving company vehicles until they were inoperable. Once the vehicle stopped working, the company traded them in. Palmer Electric had an on-site mechanic, but there were no procedures in place to track or measure the costs of maintenance and repairs.


Palmer Electric partnered with Enterprise Fleet Management to help order vehicles directly from the manufacturer with vehicle incentives. In addition to purchasing advantages, Palmer Electric recognized the value in Enterprise’s maintenance and fuel programs. As the company’s vehicles started to become less efficient, Enterprise Fleet Management would notify the company and they would sell the vehicles through Enterprise’s resale channels. This allowed the company to roll the vehicle’s equity into the purchase of new vehicles and lower their overall payments.


Enterprise Fleet Management’s program has saved Palmer Electric approximately $3,000 per vehicle during the purchase process alone. Palmer Electric now utilizes Enterprise's full maintenance program, which provides a fixed, budget-able cost over the life cycle of the vehicle. By purchasing new vehicles every 100,000 miles, Palmer Electric has maximized the resale value on each vehicle, gaining an average of $965 more per vehicle. Enterprise's website capabilities, along with a local account team, help track the key components of managing their entire fleet.
