Michigan's Renewable Fuels Plan Calls for $200 Million in Incentives

The Michigan Renewable Fuels Commission released a 76-page plan to encourage production and use of alternative fuels in the state. According to the Detroit Free Press, the plan's recommendations include creating a $200 million incentives package to help lure energy research projects to the state. The commission also supports the formation of a low-carbon emission transportation fuels program requiring the use of 25 percent renewable fuels by 2025.

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Institute for Renewable Fuels

Enterprise has made a significant commitment to further advance that research and development when it announced the creation of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Institute for Renewable Fuels. Creation of the Institute was made possible by a $25 million grant from Enterprise Founder Jack Taylor. Working in conjunction with one of the leading plant science research facilities, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, the new Institute will work to develop acceptable and affordable alternatives to finite fossil fuels by finding new ways to create fuel from renewable and reliable plant sources.

What Drives Fuel Efficiency?

Higher fuel prices are making everyone more aware of the need to be more cost conscious. Sometimes the simplest things can make a difference. And even saving just a few gallons of gasoline every week can add up to a substantial savings at the end of the year when multiplied by the number of vehicles in a company's fleet.

Get more miles per gallon by remembering the following:

Keep tires properly inflated.
Check wheel alignment periodically.
Select the right oil for your engine.
Adjust driving style to save gas.
Reduce unnecessary weight within the vehicle

The high price of gas is not likely to be coming down anytime soon and that means it is more important than ever to do all you can to help reduce fuel consumption, increase fuel efficiency and save money.
