Supply Chain Issues Impact on Auto Repair Shops

In August 2021, IMR Inc. interviewed 500 independent automotive repair shops in the U.S. to get insights on whether supply chain disruptions were affecting their businesses and customers.  It is important for fleets to understand the results of this research because it directly relates to vehicle downtime.

Summary of Key Findings:

  • 100% of surveyed shops report longer than average time to complete service & repairs
  • 50% of shops shared that they are frequently facing disruptions getting parts
  • Approximately half of the surveyed shops also shared feedback on issues with hiring drivers and skilled labor.
  • 87% of shops surveyed shared that they rarely or never purchase from new or unknown vendors for their parts, which continues the relationship they have with their primary vendors.
